Cookie policy

This site uses Google Analytics only if you agree. No analytics cookies are set until you accept, and you can change your mind at any time.

The short version

This site uses Google Analytics to understand how people use it — but only if you agree. Google Analytics sets a small number of cookies, and none of them are set until you choose "Accept" on the cookie banner. If you choose "Reject", no analytics cookies are set at all. Basic visitor counts are collected without any cookies either way.

What sets cookies, and when

  • Google Analytics (GA4) — measures which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors arrive from, and aggregate audience information, so I can see what's useful and keep improving the site. It loads only after you accept, and it is provided by Google (Google's privacy policy).
  • Edge visitor counts — aggregate page-view statistics produced at the hosting network's edge. These are cookieless, count requests rather than people, and need no consent.

The cookies Google Analytics sets (only after you accept)

CookiePurposeExpires
_gaDistinguishes one browser from another so visits can be counted.2 years
_ga_<id>Keeps session state for this specific Analytics property.2 years

There are no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, and nothing shared with ad networks. Google Analytics is configured for measurement only.

Changing or withdrawing your choice

You can change your mind at any time. Use the button below to bring the banner back and switch your choice — withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. You can also clear this site's cookies and data in your browser, which resets the choice.

Strictly-necessary cookies

When you submit the contact form, the anti-spam check (Cloudflare Turnstile) may set a short-lived, strictly-necessary cookie to confirm you are a real person. It carries no analytics or marketing purpose and is not used to track you across sites.

If you submit the contact form

The form posts your input to a server endpoint, which validates it and emails it to me. See the privacy policy for what happens to that data afterwards.

Third-party embeds

Apart from Google Analytics (above) and the Turnstile spam check on the contact form, this site does not embed third-party widgets that set cookies. If a future page were to embed something that does — a YouTube video, say — this policy would be updated and a clear notice added at the point of the embed.
