An interactive UK impact map and quiz for a UK advocacy site
Two bespoke WordPress plugins — constituency-search impact map and animated quiz — with non-technical backends.
Visit the live siteWhat the site is
The Alliance for International Students is an advocacy organisation promoting the economic and cultural benefits of international students studying in the UK. The website serves as a campaigning and information resource, featuring interactive tools that make complex data accessible and engaging.
The challenge
iNHouse Communications provided the brand assets; the theme and starting template were my choice. The real work was two complex bespoke plugins that went well beyond standard WordPress functionality: an interactive UK map showing the economic impact of international students at a local level (searchable by constituency), and an interactive quiz designed to challenge misconceptions about international students with engaging animations and transitions.
What I built
Interactive impact map. A custom WordPress plugin displaying an interactive UK map with constituency search. Users search for their constituency and see data about the economic contribution of international students in their local area. The plugin includes a backend management interface for updating the data.
Interactive quiz. A bespoke quiz plugin with animated transitions, scoring and a backend management interface allowing non-technical staff to edit questions and facts without developer involvement.
Full site build. WordPress implementation with Elementor Pro on a theme and template I selected, working from the agency’s brand assets — including GDPR-compliant cookie consent, cross-browser testing, responsive design, SEO configuration and Microsoft 365 email setup.
The tools themselves

Why it matters
Agency subcontract work means I’m the developer keeping the agency’s design promise to a client they can’t deliver alone. The brief is set; my job is to make the interactive bits actually work, with admin interfaces a non-technical team can use without me.
