Mulberry Civils & Construction is a civil engineering, construction and renewables company operating across the UK. The site presents their services — groundworks, construction, renewables and operations & maintenance — alongside their values, standards and team, serving as a professional front door for clients, main contractors and potential employees.
What I built
Design and build. A complete WordPress build on SiteGround, starting with research and planning — finding the right theme foundation for the brief — then a first design implementation followed by several rounds of revisions worked through with the company until the look landed. Clean, modern, with a strong visual hierarchy that suits an engineering firm.
A custom services plugin. The services range didn’t fit any off-the-shelf layout, so I wrote a small custom plugin to present it properly — service category pages with navigation anchors, each service with its own description, all manageable from the admin side.
Content, not just containers. Most of the site’s text was created or reworked during the build: taking the company’s provided material, expanding it to suit the website format, and writing new copy where gaps existed — text, image editing and all.
The plumbing. Hosting with a development staging environment, DNS, SSL and email configuration, caching and optimisation plugins, and the measurement layer — GA4, Search Console and on-page SEO — set up and verified at launch.
After launch. Cross-device checks before publishing, then a proper post-publication pass: SEO tuning, content revisions and ongoing backend management. I also helped beyond the website itself, organising documents and writing summary copy for the company’s updated profile document.
Why it matters
This was a build where the client’s time went into their day job, not into supplying website copy — a large share of the project was meetings, communication and content work, with the site evolving section by section through those conversations. That’s the working pattern for most trade and engineering firms, and it’s a process I’m comfortable carrying end to end.
